Edith Marie Haire, 79 of Lake City, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. She was born in Dade City, Florida to the late Herman and Eva Belcher Law. Mrs. Haire retired to Lake City in 2006 and had previously been a longtime resident of Clewiston, Florida. She worked for many years at both the Clewiston Middle and High School. Mrs. Haire was currently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lake City and a former longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Clewiston. She loved writing poetry and had several of her poems published. Mrs. Haire loved spending time with her family and in her later years playing "Scrabble" and "Banana Grams". She was preceded in death by parents; her husband of 36 years, Philip Thornton Haire; one brother, Wendell Law; and one sister, Iva Joe Law.
Survivors include her two daughters, Tammy Haire Garrett (Mickey), Lake City and Crystal Haire McCray (Mabry), Clewiston; two sisters, Ernestine Bales, Lake City and Doris Warner, Live Oak; one brother, Dwight Law (Frankie), Wellborn; five grandchildren, Adam Haire (Brianna) and Keegan Garrett all of Lake City, Joel McCray (Kathy), Gainesville and Noah McCray and Caroline McCray both of Clewiston; three great-grandchildren, Jasper, Jemma and Jensen Haire; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Haire will be conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church in Lake City. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A graveside service with interment following will be conducted on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clewiston, Florida.
