Mrs. Edith Marie Griffith, 75 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015.  She was born in Butler, Georgia to the late Jessie and Ruthie James.  Mrs. Griffith had made her home in Lake City for the past 7 years having moved here from LaBelle, Florida where she had been a longtime resident.  She was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Florida and she loved to cook for her family and friends.  Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank I. Griffith in 2006 and her daughter, Joan Pind in 2009.

Survivors include her son, Jessie Posey, LaBelle; six grandchildren, Harley Posey, Live Oak, Justin Buege, Wisconsin, Edith Fordham, Lake City, Frank Frederick, Paris, TN, Danny Ballieet, LaBelle and Lonnie Pind, Jacksonville; 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.  Interment will follow.  Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 pm, Thursday evening at the funeral home.
