Dwight Emory Boozer, 57, Assistant Fire Chief of Lake City Fire Department, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. He was a life-long resident of Lake City, born on May 15, 1966 to Patricia Ann Wattles Boozer and the late Emory Lamar Boozer. He loved working with the Fire Department and served for over 33 years with the Lake City Fire Department. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Lamar Boozer and his brother-in-law, Norman Thearl.
He is survived by his children, William Jakob Boozer (Marilee), Joshua Luke Boozer and Julie Renee Boozer all of Lake City; mother, Pat Boozer of Lake City; his two siblings, David Boozer (Lonnie) and Wanda Thearl both of Lake City. His two grandchildren, Amelia Jane Boozer and Leilah Joy Boozer both of Lake City; along with extended family, friends and his Fire Department family also survive.
A funeral service for Assistant Chief Boozer will be conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Christian Fellowship Church, 5037 SW County Road 240, Lake City, FL, 32024, with Pastor Lonnie Johns of Christ Central officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Lake City Fire Department.
