Dorothy Lee Nettles Jones

Dorothy Lee Nettles Jones, 95, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2026 at the Grand Cypress Assisted Living Facility in Lake City after a brief illness. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Port Nettles and Lillian Ogden Nettles, she made Lake City her home most of her life; and worked as a Telephone Operator for the Southern Bell Company and then with the VA Medical Center in Lake City, where she retired from. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church; and in her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy work, working with ceramics and line dancing. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 57 years, Henry Jones; daughter, Jeanie Jones; grandson, Matthew Everett Jones; granddaughter, Rebecka Snyder and her eight siblings.

She is survived by her son, Alan Dale Jones (Bonnie) of Lake City; daughters, Darlene Jones Hartley (Edwin) of Glen St. Mary & Joy Rosemary Jones of Lake City. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service for Mrs. Jones will be conducted at a later date. A private interment service for Mrs. Jones was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens where she was laid to rest next to her loving husband Henry.
