Dorothy Puffenbarger Harrington, 65 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  She was born in Sugar Grove, West Virginia and had made Lake City her home since 1975 having moved here from Guthrie, Oklahoma.  Mrs. Harrington retired from the Family Health Center in 2013 and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.  She was preceded in death by her father, Elvert Howard Puffenbarger and her husband, N. L. "Vernon" Harrington.

Survivors include her mother, Shirley Losh Nelson, Lake Butler; three sons, Jason Powell (Sheila), Lake City, Nathan Powell (Sandra), Jasper and Jonathan Powell (April), Lake City; 2 brothers, Elvert Howard Puffenbarger, Jr., Benton, Louisiana and Jerry Puffenbarger, Waldo; one sister, Liz "Bon" Chalker (Bill), Orlando; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; the father of her sons, Jerry Powell, Lake City; and her special friend, Joyce Cook, Lake City.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Collins officiating.  Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
