Dorothy Renee Brown, 65 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Ormond Rehab and Nursing Center in Ormond Beach.  She was born in Fort Myers, Florida and had made Lake City her home all of her life.  Mrs. Brown was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hopeful Baptist Church.  She enjoyed shopping, going to the beach and also traveling to the mountains.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Rimes; one son, Matt Brown; her brother, Bobby Hayes; her father and mother-in-law, Epstine "Buddy" and Mary Brown; and two brothers-in-law, William and Guy Brown.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, David A. Brown, Lake City; two sons, Buck and Sandy Brown, Port Orange and Richie and Julie Brown, Statesboro, GA; two sisters, Brenda Gilliam, Lake City and Mary Ellen Drawdey, Sebring; brother-in-law, Steve Brown (Daun), Middleburg; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Altman (Paul), Middleburg, Linda Davis (James), Lulu, Brenda Rodgers (Carl), Statenville, GA and Sherry Burlingame (Wade), Lake City; seven grandchildren, Shelby (Jim), Hunter, Sam, Maddie Grace, Dalton, Kaylie and Braylee; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Daniel Gilliam officiating.  Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
