Donald Ray Venz of Lake City, Florida, passed away February 26, 2022, at the Lake City Medical Center.  Don was born September 6, 1939, in Bessemer, Alabama, to Carver Cannon Venz and Emma Isom.

Donald, a wonderful husband and father, guided his family through many adventures from Clark Air Base Philippines to Maxwell AFB Alabama where he met and married his wife Nancy to Andrews AFB Washington D.C. and then on to Kindley AFB Bermuda, where both their children were born.  He received a master's degree in Pharmacy from University of Tennessee, Memphis.  From there he took his family to the Tampa Veterans Administration Hospital, then back to Washington D.C., then the Nashville VA hospital and finally to the Lake City VA hospital in 1979 – where he retired in 1993.  Lake City has remained his home for 43 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Sherman Venz, his sister Vera J'Dean Gilbert, and his son Gregory D. Venz.  He leaves behind Nancy his wife of 56 years, a daughter Kathryn Curtis (Jason), three granddaughters Sabrina Curtis, Julia Curtis, and Emma Curtis, brother Edward Venz (Virginia) and sister Linda Faye Martin, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated March 5, 2022 at1pm by Fr Bob Hoffman.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to his funeral with internment to follow at Gateway Forest Lawn Cemetery next to his son.
