Donald W. "Ray" Dice, 82, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 15, 2018 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Baker County on September 9, 1935 to the late Theodore and Lettie Hodges Dice. He has made Baker and Columbia Counties his home his entire life. He was a construction worker for A.J. Johns Underground construction for many years before retirement. He enjoyed going hunting, especially hog hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to his grandson's ball games. He liked to cook and grow a big vegetable garden. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Lake City Moose Lodge. He is preceded in death by his son; Mark Dice and his brother; Cecil Dice.
He is survived by his daughter; Debi Zakany of Lakeland, FL; special daughter-in-law; Kathy Dice of Lake City; grandchildren; Casey Bariel, Bradley Zakany, Chris Dice, Kaley Dice, Dallas Dice and Jagger Dice; great-grandchildren; Blaine Whiting, Zoe Whiting, Peyton Whiting, Zoe Bariel and Christopher "Duke" Dice. Loving friend; Geri (Ken) Carr along with many extended family members and friends also survive.
Memorial services for Mr. Dice will be conducted on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Boone officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior the services) at the funeral home.
