Obituary

Donald (Don) Haldus Dilworth, age 86, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida on February 1, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy Dilworth (2019), parents, Haldus and Charlotte Dilworth, Nila Dilworth (stepmother), brother Robert and sister Norma Jean Dilworth.  He is survived by his son Mark (Lisa) Dilworth, Atlantic Beach, Florida, his daughter Lisa (Barry) Long, Live Oak, Florida, and his five grandchildren Luke Dilworth, Mallory Dilworth, Brent Long, Austin Long, Brooke (Kevin) Long Hingson and two great grandchildren Harlyn and Hadley Hingson.

Don was a tremendous provider, an amazing supporter of Nancy and a wonderful father to Mark and Lisa.  Although quiet in demeanor, his actions spoke so much louder than his words when it came to caring for his family.  Even during his most challenging times in life, Don never complained.  His attitude toward life and tough times will always be remembered by his children.  He has provided lasting inspiration to us all.

One of Don's favorites activities included golfing with his friends and family.  His love for the game of golf and sports in general provided influence for Mark, Luke and Brent.  He loved coaching Little League baseball and attending Detroit Lion football games with his father in-law, Albert Weber.  The unconditional love and support that he provided Lisa will always be cherished as well.

Don was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and held a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Degree (1959).  He was an avid fan of the Wolverines and even in his passing proudly wore the "maze and blue".  This is where he started dating Nancy and they were together for almost 61 years until Nancy's passing.  Don was a chemical engineer, specializing in phosphate engineering for 40 years until his retirement in the early 2000's.  After retirement, he cherished his time with his family.

"Fathers are kind, patient and loving…you were all of these to us!  Godspeed Dad, you will be missed!"

There will be a special "Celebration of Life" held for family members in the near future.  In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations to Haven Hospice,  6037 US-90, Lake City, FL 32055 in memory of Donald Haldus Dilworth.
