Donald "Donnie" Joseph Bossuyt, 61, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Haven Hospice- Suwannee Valley Care Center after a prolonged illness. He was born on August 27, 1963 to the late Donald and Harriett Bossuyt in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Donnie was an extremely tough and hardworking man. He leaves behind a broken hearted family and many friends.
He is survived by his former wife, Leslie Bossuyt; his children, Sabrina Colunga (Glenn), Darla Varela (Pablo), and Andrew Bossuyt (Geniene); and his granddaughter, Emily Knight.
Donnie is preceded in death by both of his parents, Don and Harriet Bossuyt; and his sister, Wendy Touchtone.
Donnie graduated from Branford High in 1981. He grew up working on their family hay farm in O'Brien. After the births of their three children, Donnie and Leslie moved to Lake City, where they raised their children and he worked as a truck driver for many years. After retirement, he volunteered many hours at the American Legion and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and Rolling Thunder. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, yard sale-ing, and vacationing in the mountains with his family and friends.
A celebration of Donnie's Life will be held at the American Legion Post #57 in Lake City on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 4:00 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 W. US HWY 90, Lake City, FL, 32055.
