IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane Lynn
Schlimmer
January 18, 1956 – December 21, 2022
Diane Lynn Schlimmer, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly on December 21st, 2022 at the age of 66 in Lake City, FL. Born to Donald & Phyllis Swanson on January 18th, 1956 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, one of Diane's earliest and most cherished memories was her time spent on the Mikkelson Family Farm near Irene, South Dakota. Her relationship with Jesus began as a young girl sitting beside the creek; a relationship and love for Him that carried through her entire life. A hard and accurate worker in the banking industry when she was younger and a caring, empathetic case worker in the social work industry later in life, Diane's most successful accomplishments...as she'd tell anyone that would listen...were her children. In good times and hard times, her love for her family was unwavering. Mr. Rogers once said to "remember those who loved us into being". If there was an award for 'Loving One Into Being', Diane would own several.
If you said the words "trivial pursuit" or "antiquing" Diane's already infectious smile would get impossibly bigger. Always up for a multi-hour trivial pursuit marathon, her family would marvel at the abstract knowledge that she possessed and chuckle at her primary answer to every sports question: the Oakland Raiders. She still wasn't sure what sport they played, but it was the only team she could ever remember. And no antique or thrift store was ever safe. Diane loved all things vintage. Her children have spent more than a few hours in the last decade hunting for the elusive dog-chasing-a-cat-up-a-tree salt and pepper shakers from her childhood. Treasures now that her children and grandchildren will cherish forever, just like her.
She is survived by her loving husband Dave Schlimmer, her four successful children Jason Rohrer (Deb), Jenny Kampmeyer (Kevin), Andrew Kolstad (Sharon) and Charles Kolstad (Emily), her nine beautiful grandchildren Michael Kampmeyer, Kylie Rohrer, Dylan Kampmeyer (Lindsay), Ashlyn Kampmeyer, Skylar Rohrer, Jamin Kolstad, Mackenzie Kolstad, Kelsie Kolstad and Emilee Kolstad as well as her wonderful brother Mark Swanson (Kathryn). She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Phyllis Swanson.
Once so appropriately described as a "bubble floating around the earth", Diane made all those she encountered better for it. She is irreplaceable, much loved and will be forever missed. A funeral service for Mrs. Schlimmer will be conducted on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A private family interment will follow. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
