Mr. "DJ Benz" Dennis John Benz, Sr. left this world on November 17, 2017 at Haven Hospice. He was born June 1, 1941 in Ashtabula, Ohio and moved to Lake City in 1966. He owned convenience stores called DJ's Quick Shop, was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, and his hobby was collecting antique cars. Mr. Benz was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1958-1962 and a member of the American Legion Post #57.

Mr. Benz is survived by his wife, Julia; mother, Lucille Benz; children, John Benz, Carolyn Curtis, Dennis Benz, Jr., Julie Freis, James Pierce and Judy Taylor; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Benz will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 P.M. Friday, November 24, 2017 at the funeral home.
