Franklin Delano (Del) Cason, 88, of Lake City, passed away at Haven Hospice on April 20, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lulu, Florida on November 29, 1933 to the late Talmadge Dewitt Cason and Jimmie Lois Anderson Cason. Del was a member of the Columbia High School Class of 1952 and he served in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He retired from the Florida Department of Revenue in March of 1993. He loved his life on the farm in south Columbia County with his wife of 66 years, Lillian Martin Cason. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin Dudley Cason; and his brothers, Donald Cason; Grayson Cason; and P.D. Cason.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian and daughter Delan Cason-Etheridge; his only granddaughter who adored him, Della Katharine Crone (Andrew) of Greensboro, NC; his great-grandchildren, Cason Mitchell Crone and Parker Katharine Crone. He is also survived by his two sisters, Abbie Mann and Robbie Sue Burris (Marvin) of Lake City.
A graveside memorial service for Mr. Cason will be conducted on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. The family request that donations be made to the Haven Hospice of Lake City, Mikesville Presbyterian Church or Meridian Behavioral Healthcare.
