David Stormant, 81, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 5, 2022 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in White Springs on March 22, 1941, to the late James E. Stormant and Alene Guthrie Stormant. He has made the Hamilton and Columbia County area his home his entire life. He attended the White Springs High School and also served his country in the US Army. He worked for Occidental/PCS for over 40 years, and retired as a Oiler Mechanic. He was a faithful member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee until his health prevented him. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Stormant Padgett.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Myra Jane Stormant of Lake City, son, Dwayne Stormant of Lake City; daughters, Amy Stormant Griffin (Brad) & Laura Saunders (Travis) both of Lake City; and his sister, Ruth Self (Jim) of Lake City. Five grandchildren; Kelsey Stormant of Lake City, Dustin Hulett of Miamisburg, OH, Shelby Hulett, Bo Saunders and Blake Saunders all of Lake City; two great-grandchildren, Jaylin and Stormy along with his fur grandpup, Pee Wee also survive.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Stormant will be conducted on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery (US HWY 441 North). The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
