David S. Jones, 75, of Lake City, passed away on Friday evening, July 21, 2023 at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville after a brief illness. He was born in Utica, NY on January 21, 1948 to the late Alfred Jones and Eileen Rehbach. He has made Lake City his home the last twelve years, moving here from the St. Petersburg area. He was a Marine Corp Veteran, and was a twice wounded combat veteran, earning two purple hearts. He was an excellent trumpet player and was an avid baseball player and baseball fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol J. Jones of Lake City; son, Michael David Jones of Daytona Beach; and daughter, Jennifer Marie Jones of St. Petersburg.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Faith Baptist Church in Lake City with Pastor Ben Kurz officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
