Daryl Leon McHaney, 56, of White Springs, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Lake City Medical Center. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 16, 1961 to Betty Powell McHaney Harless and the late Ralph Leon McHaney. He has made White Springs his home since 1974, moving here from the south/central Florida area. He was a machine operator in the logging industry and was of the Methodist faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved watching football, NASCAR, and playing guitar. He loved gathering with family and friends to throw horseshoes and play corn-hole. He is preceded in death by his son; Colton Lee McHaney; sister; Debbie Deese; his step-father; Harold Harless and his step-sister; Carolyn Page.

He is survived by his loving mother; Betty Harless of White Springs; loving companion and great-granddaughter; Sue Bowen and Gabby McDuffie; brothers; Dwayne McHaney (Melissa) of White Springs and Leonard McHaney (Sally) of Alabama; sisters; Mary Anderson (Jerry) of Alabama, Anne Petty (Donnie) of Alabama, Sheila Dunaway (Monroe) of White Springs, Sharon Glover (Darrell) of White Springs, Sherry Blankenship (Jamie) of Lake City and Toni Cabe (Arnold) of Lake City. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. McHaney will be conducted on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Ogburn, pastor of Watertown Congregational Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in White Springs. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, August 31, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
