Dale Edward Overbey, age 76, of Lake City, Florida, passed away peacefully at Community Hospice and Palliative Care Hadlow Center in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday, January 9, 2022, with family at his side.

He was born on December 26, 1945, in Knoxville, TN to the late Louis and Imogene Shinlever Overbey. He lived in Knoxville until his mid-teens when his family relocated to New Jersey where he completed his high school education. He completed two years in the Navy Reserves and two years of active duty and received an Honorable Discharge. He served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt out of Mayport, Florida.

Dale worked as a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 28 in New York, New York for many years and eventually transferred to Jacksonville, Florida until retirement; where he lived and made his home in Lake City, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Imogene Overbey; and brothers, Stacey, Neal, Gary and Jerry Overbey.

He is survived by his Wife of 54 years, Linda Stalvey Overbey of Lake City, Florida; two children, Chris Overbey (Kathy) of St. Johns, Florida and Robyn Overbey Bryan (Donnie) of White Springs, Florida; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Daniel, Lake City, Florida, Bryce Overbey, St. Johns, Florida, Brian Click, St. Johns, Florida, Laurel Daniel, White Springs, Florida, Corey Overbey, St. Johns, Florida and Destiny Murray, White Springs, Florida; and two brothers, Donald Overbey (Sheryl), Bogota, New Jersey and Arthur Overbey (Pat), Effort, Pennsylvania.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
