C.W. Pennington, Jr.

Mr. Connell William “C.W.” Pennington, Jr, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the HCA Florida Lake City Hospital following an extended illness. He is the son of the late Connell William and Audry Weatherington Pennington, Sr., and is preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia “Punkin” Pennington. He had made Lake City his home for the past fifty-five years after moving here from Oak Hill, FL. He worked for Southern Bell Phone Company and later became Bell South, where he retired after thirty-three years of service. He enjoyed farming and watching NASCAR racing; his favorite two drivers were the late Dale Earnhardt and the late Kyle Busch. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven plus years, Glenda Pennington, Lake City, FL; his children, Jeffrey Pennington and Cheryl “Skeeter” Pennington, both of Lake City, FL; two brothers, Harry J. Pennington, Jennings, FL, and Charles Pennington (Lynn), Madison, FL; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

A Graveside service will be held at Pennington Family Cemetery on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Address to cemetery: 1061 SW Steedley Drive, Lake City, FL 32024. The family will receive friends at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
