First Sergeant Curtis E. Bolen Sr. USMC Retired, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the E.T. York Care Center (Haven Hospice), He was 80 years old. A native of Huntington & Chapmanville, WVA and moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1995.
Mr. Bolen served in Occupation Forces Europe during World War II, and both the Korean & Vietnam Wars. He received many awards and two Purple Hearts.
He was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church of Gainesville, Florida, a member of the Marine Corps Association and life member of the Non- Commissioned Officers Association. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Vernon Bolen, and his beloved wife of 39 years 1 Mo. & 9 days, Betty Ruth Crawford Bolen in July 1996.
Survivors include his sons, William G. Campbell of Gainesville, FL, Curtis E. Bolen Jr. of Carrolton, VA; daughters, Donna Jean Bolen of Pecks Mill, WVA and Patricia Ann Bolen of Florida; brothers, Rev. James F. Bolen, and Richard A. Bolen of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Maggie L. McNeely, Myrna J. Arrowood, and Wanda L. Dingess of Huntington, WVA & Norma K. Cignona of South Point, OH; 8 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, WVA.
