Obituary

Clayton Lane Black, 16, of Wellborn, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born on January 17, 2005 in Gainesville, FL and made the Wellborn/Lake City area his home all of his life. He was a member of the 2023 Graduating Class of Columbia High School and was a member of The Cross Church in Ellisville. He currently worked for Menendez Construction where he was a Framer. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mudding, welding, working on trucks and driving things that would go fast. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Wayne Black.

He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Lee Taylor (Tim Heatherman) and his father, Paul Jason Black (Pamela); brothers, Levi Black and Brantley Black; sister, Cayden Taylor; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Germany and maternal great-grandmother, Carol Palasak (Lou); and paternal grandmother, Maryann Black. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Clayton will be conducted on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Edenfield officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Grayson Martin Welding Scholarship at Columbia High School.
