Obituary

Chauncey Arthur "Chuck" Welch, 84 adored husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather of Homosassa, Florida died Saturday morning, November 7, 2015 following an illness at Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida surrounded by his family.

Chauncey was born on July 23, 1931 in Ogdensburg, New York to Chauncey and May Robinson Welch. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and from the St. Lawrence Psychiatric School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, New York. Chauncey continued his education in 1957 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York where he completed the coursework for anesthesia. Chauncey proudly served as a medic in the United States Army.  He married Sally J. Myers in 1953 and lived in Clifton Park, New York where they had three children. They moved to Lake City, Florida in 1972 and to Citrus County in 1987, where he lived in Inverness, Beverly Hills, and finally, Homosassa. Chauncey was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for over 40 years and had a wonderful caring reputation with his patients.

Chauncey or to his friends, "Chuck," became an avid Gator fan when he moved to Florida.  He was a Gator booster and held season tickets for 40 years.  Chuck loved the outdoors, golfing, being on the water and fishing.  He enjoyed watching all sports, especially football and baseball.  As a true patriot and veteran, Chuck always flew the American flag.

Chauncey was preceded in death by his wife, Sally J. Myers Welch and his parents Chauncey and May Robinson Welch.

Survivors include two sisters, Beverly Bennett (Dunnellon, FL) and Thelma Barz (Massapequa, NY); one son, Michael H. Welch (Lake City, FL); two daughters, Wendy and Don Stevens (Lake City, FL) and Candace "Candy" and Dean Pauley (Inverness, FL); six grandchildren, Brandy Hunt, and her husband Dylan (Lake City, FL), Chip Stevens (Jacksonville, FL), Kyle Stevens and his wife Kaylie (Ft. Myers, FL), Chauncey Pauley (Brooklyn, NY), Casey Stevens (Lake City, FL), and Samantha Pauley (Tallahassee, FL); and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Jordan Hunt (Lake City, FL); and many adored friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Chapel with Reverend Jeff Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Chuck would like Florida Gator fans to wear their Gator gear!
