Mr. Charles Albert Peeler, Sr., 77, passed away on Monday March 2, 2026, unexpectedly at the Tampa General Hospital. He is the son of the late Carl and Pauline Bussey Peeler. He is preceded in death by one brother John Peeler, four brother in laws Glen Markham, Mike Cox, Claude Kennedy, Sherrill Sistrunk, and one sister-in-law Faye Peeler. Charles was a lifelong resident of Columbia County, owning and operating Charles Peeler Construction for the past fifty years until he sold the company to his son in 2022. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, The Lake City Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM, Morrocco Temple Shrine Club, and the Scottish Rites, the Hardees Breakfast Club and the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation). His greatest joy in life was being a papa.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Dianna Waites Peeler, his two sons Chuck Peeler (Lyndsie) and Doug Peeler (Maci) all of Lake City, FL. his five brothers Billy Peeler (Patsy) Wellborn, FL; W.H. Peeler (Janet), Earl Peeler, Dale Peeler (Kathi) and Raymond Peeler(Alice) all of Lake City, FL; his five sisters Lula Mae Sistrunk, Anne Little (Harold), Glenda Markham, Velina Cox, and Carline Kennedy all of Lake City, FL; and his six grandchildren Chandler Wade Peeler, Adalyn Olevia Peeler, Maverick Charles Peeler, Charles Albert Peeler, III, Cyrus Patton Peeler and Amos Cotton Peeler all of Lake City, FL and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Charles Albert Peeler, Sr. will be conducted on Friday March 6, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Kerry officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lake City, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
