Charles Roland Pannell of Lake City, FL age 92, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on August 29, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Melba Toole Pannell. Charles was born in Eros, AR on December 7, 1929. He is survived by four daughters; Beverly (George) Whitmire, Evans, GA; Teresa (Mark) Jordan, Evans, GA; Pam (Lex) Carswell, Lake City, FL; Debbie (Phil) Bishop, Lake City, FL; and eight grandchildren, George (Jessica) Whitmire, Monica (Josh) Cannington, Shana (Thomas) Munro, Daniel (Melissa) Jordan, Becky (Jim) Carruth, Alex (Alexis) Carswell, Megan (Ivey) Carter and Michael (Shannon) Bishop and 18 great-grandchildren, Brendan, Caleb, and Evan Whitmire; Bethany, Allison and Josie Lillie; Caleigh and Camden Munro; Anna Grace, Luke and Olivia Jordan; Brady and Madelyn Carruth; Ford and Briggs Carswell; Grady and Charlie Mae Bishop and Reed Carter.

Charles was also preceded in death by his two brothers; Doy and Wayland; and three sisters, Jane Keeter, Daisy Johnson and Margie Smith.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and completed his military service in the Air Force Reserves. He was a Quality Control Supervisor for the Department of Defense for over 30 years. Charles was a longtime member of Parkview Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He and Melba enjoyed traveling, Blue Grass Festivals, and spending time with their family.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 10:00am at Parkview Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating. Interment will follow at Gateway- Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkview Baptist Building Fund.
