Charles Edward Long, 56, of Fort White, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 20, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 27, 1969 to the late Donald Long, Sr. and Nancy Lindberg Long; and has made Lake City his home since 1992, moving here from the Columbus, Ohio area. He worked as a Barn Hand at the Columbia Live Stock Market for a little over 11 years, before his ill health forced him to retire. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, working on model cars and watching Ohio State Football.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years, Donita Friend Long; sons, Eric Friend, Kyle Long-Friend, Jacob Long-Friend, Isaiah Wynkoop-Long and Elijah Wynkoop-Long; grandchildren, Alice, Baylee, Sachi, Lailah, Judson and another little girl due in June. Nine siblings, Wendy, Debbie, Becky, Mary, Donald, Benjamin, Joseph, Robert and Nicole along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
