Charles Auther "C.A." Boone, Sr., 89 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at his home. He was born in Live Oak, Florida, the youngest of 4 children, to the late James Auther Boone and Eva Mae Merritt, and was a lifelong resident of Lake City.  Mr. Boone was the founder of C.A. Boone Construction in 1970 and ran the company for many years with his family and was a professional dragline operator within the last few days of his life.  Mr. Boone enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Kyle Benjamin "Ben" Boone; and 3 siblings, Carl Boone, Pauline Barfuss and Joe Boone.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Davis, Lake City; three sons, Charles A. Boone, Jr. (Jeanette), Dan Gregory Boone (Elaine) and James F. "Jimmy" Boone (Sherry) all of Lake City; one daughter, Rachel Wright; step daughter, Michele Padgett (Chad), Lake City; 8 grandchildren, Kendra Boone Royals (Bo), Krista Boone Robinson (Vince), Clint Boone (Kristen), Cliff Boone (Leslie), Daniel Boone, Matthew Boone (Brandy), Jesse Boone (Leigh Anna) and Cassy Kyi; many great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
