Catherine K. Dicks, 100, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 4, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. She was born on May 14, 1924 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Robert E. Kidd and Eleanor Kidd Eckert and lived most of her life here in Lake City, and was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church. She worked for many years in factory work, and in her spare time, she enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles and cooking. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Edward L. Thomas, Sr. & Drew Dicks; her sons, James Thomas and Edward L. Thomas, Jr..
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Cheshire (Russell), Sandra Cook (Larry), Nancy Royals (Eugene) and Becky Thomas all of Lake City; and her sisters, Betty Jean Spreitzer and Joyce A. Hackman. Nineteen grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Dicks will be conducted on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Richard Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
