Carolynn S. Swearengin, 85 of Lake City, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Solaris Healthcare in Lake City surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Lake City, FL to the late Eulice J. Sweat and Madeline Sweat. A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Mrs. Swearengin was a graduate of Florida Gateway College as a registered nurse. Mrs. Swearengin worked as a nurse for over 30 years, as well as ministered as a pastor's wife and traveled as a missionary in Africa, Bolivia, Honduras, Philippines, as well as opening a school in Africa and opening an orphanage in Honduras. Carolynn's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and to her Lord and Savior. We know she is hearing "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." She was preceded in death by her husband George A. Swearengin of 55 years, and a sister Eulene Sweat Wheeler.

Mrs. Swearengin is survived by her four children: Joy Allen (Chris) of Cleveland, TN; Jennifer Saucer (Larry), of Lake City; Anna Swearengin of Lake City; and Amy Swearengin Sawyer of Lake City; a brother Charles Sweat of Knoxville, TN; and a sister Meredith Manning (David) of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren: Joshua Allen, Jeremiah Allen, Jaydnn Allen, John Saucer, Cale Saucer, Brittany Benson (Cody), Phillip Coon (Miranda), Andrew Coon, Abigail Croft (Joe), Ethan Sawyer, and Caroline Sawyer; as well as three great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Swearengin will be conducted on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Chris and Joy Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Siloam Methodist Church Cemetery.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
