Carolyn Witt Markham

Mrs. Carolyn Witt Markham, 96, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2026 at her residence with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was a life long resident of Lake City, born on July 22, 1929 to the late Morris Witt and Bertha Roberts Witt. She worked for over 32 years with the Southern Bell Company, retiring as a Plant Assigner. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, and in her spare time, enjoyed reading and working in her gardens and spending time with her family.. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Tommie M. Markham, her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Steedley and her grandson, Chuck Crews. 

She is survived by her loving children, Paula Markham Crews, Gayle Markham Arnold (Ozzie) and Tomi Sue Markham Lee (Wade); and her two nieces, Kay Jones (Ronnie) and Barbara Saunders (Charles). Eight grandchildren, Brandon Arnold (Shannon), Shawn Arnold (Ashley), Wayne Laxton (Lindsey) and Andrea Gainey (Clay) Charlene Crews Greer, Wade Lee (Holly), Keithen Lee (Joni), Curtis Lee along with 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, along with several great nieces and great nephews also survive. 

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Markham will be conducted on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with her great-nephew, Chris Jones officiating.
