Carolyn Dampier Kirby, 85, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. She was born in Lake City on April 22, 1940, to the late Calvin Howard Dampier and Ouida Keen Dampier. She has made Lake City her home all of her life, and served as the Columbia County Supervisor of Elections from 1982 until her retirement in 2005. She was a Columbia High School Graduate, graduating with the 1959 class. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and studying her bible, gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking, canning, going to the mountains, going to yard sales and being very active in her church when she was able. More importantly, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and always had an open home to anyone. Carolyn loved the Lord, and never wavered in her faith in Him. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Erston Lewis Kirby; grandson, Jonathan "J.J." Spradley; brother, Garry Wayne Dampier; and her son-in-law, Donnie Barber.

She is survived by her children, Clifton Michael Kirby (Liza) of Lake City, Ouida Lynn Barber of Steinhatchee, Natasha Kirby Spradley (Mike) of Lake City and Natalie Kirby Park (Bruce) of Lake City; brother, Pastor Hugh Dampier (Shirley) of Lake City; brother-in-law, Donnie Kirby (Mary) of Texas and granddaughter-in-law, Delaine "Dee Dee" Spradley. Nine grandchildren, Travis Kirby (Samantha), Blake Kirby (Genny), Jordan Kirby, Kasey Smith (Kaley), Duane Barber (Brianna), Joshua Spradley, Jacob Spradley (Miranda), Isabella Park (Clayton) and Brandi Park (Dale) along with eleven great-grandchildrenand lifelong friend Louise Bullard and Al Bedenbaugh her honorary son also survive.

A graveside service for Mrs. Kirby will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Kirby Family Cemetery, 477 SW Carolyn Lane, Lake City, FL, 32024, with Rev. Donnie Kirby and Pastor Hugh Dampier officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday evening, September 20, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the graveside service.
