Carol Lorraine (Fahrni) Stewart, 89, passed peacefully at home under hospice care on November 29, 2024, in Lake City, FL. A visitation will be held at 3:15 pm on Wednesday, December 4 at Gateway- Forest Lawn Funeral Home, followed by a brief service at 4:00.

Carol was born in Deadwood SD and grew up as one of six children in Faulkton, SD. She married Roger Stewart in 1954 and moved to Sioux Falls in 1958 where they raised their five children. After a brief time in Winona, MN they became full-time residents in Lake City, Florida in 2015, having wintered for many years in Naples.

Carol was a dedicated wife and homemaker before working as an administrative assistant at what was then Sioux Falls College where she also received her associates degree. She tried her hand at entrepreneurship, operating Carol's Gallery and Gifts on the east side of Sioux Falls for five years, taking great joy in meeting with and selling works by local artists and artisans.

Carol took up tennis at age 30 and quickly excelled, accumulating over 75 trophies including many state championships and was inducted into the SD Tennis Hall of Fame in 1997. Her competitive spirit extended into table tennis, competitive duplicate bridge and family games.

She had a creative bent as well through paintings, an elegant style in decorating their homes, and in later years with elaborate creations with seashells.

She is survived by her husband Roger, children Kay Bahnson (Bahne), Kim Corker (Jim), Scott Stewart(Pam), Doug Stewart(Denise, Dec.), Anne Larson (Mike); brothers Gary Fahrni(Carol), Robert Fahrni(Dorothy), Kay Ashmore(Tom), and Lavonna Temple(Ora,dec.).  She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Beatrice Fahrni, brother Belvin, brother-in-law Ora, and daughter in law Denis
