Obituary

Carol "Cookie" Richardson, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, after a brief illness. Cookie was born in Jacksonville, FL to Curtis Dean and Dorothy Griffin Turknett on December 8th, 1934. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School as well as Florida State University with a degree in chemistry. She moved to Columbia County as a bride of three days, where she made many lifelong friends. She worked alongside her husband for many years, building a prosperous dairy farm in Baker County. After living in Jacksonville and Keystone Heights, she returned to Lake City in 1990, moving to Wellborn in 2003.

Cookie enjoyed traveling, and crossed the country multiple times in their motorhomes, visiting 49 states (missing only Vermont). She also enjoyed cooking for and entertaining friends and family. Her talents in creating floral arrangements were always on display, as she loved having fresh flowers in her home. Cookie delighted in watching the wildlife on the farm in the mornings and watching Jeopardy with her husband in the evenings. She was grounded in her faith and loved the Lord every day of her life. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Lake City for many years. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Williams Richardson, Jr., Daughter Linda, Sons George III (Carolyn), and Curtis Richardson. Grandchildren Sarah (Robert) Gens, George IV, George Robert, Wyatt, Elizabeth (Michael) Pattillo, and Carson. Great Granddaughters Olivia and Audrey Gens. Niece Karen (Robert) Briggs and nephew Kenneth Cuyler. Special friends Lisa and Pat Mote, and Helena Powers.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Darlene, Carol, Lisa, Cassandra, and Alice for their love and compassion.

As per her request there will be no service.
