Bro. Jerry Donald Tyre, 80, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025 at the Lake City Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City, after a brief illness. He was born in Hamilton County, Florida on June 16, 1945 to the late Earnest Tyre and Blonnie Adkins Tyre. Brother Jerry accepted Christ in 1975, and answered the call into ministry, where he pastored numerous churches throughout North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. He was currently serving as the Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lake City. He earned his Associates Degree from Fruitland Bible Institute, then his Bachelors from Gulf Shore Bible College, then his Doctorate from Bethany Seminary. He was also not only a US Army Veteran, but also a proud US Air Force Veteran. Brother Jerry participated in many revivals, been on many mission trips overseas and was a part of a radio ministry, Victory in Jesus. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and working outside. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dolores Tyre; as well as his two sisters, Betty and Shirley Tyre.

He is survived by his second wife, his darling, Barbie Stack-Tyre of Lake City; his children, Renee Tyre of Ocala, Lynn Tyre Hale (Robbie) of Helen, GA and Jerry D. "J.D."  Tyre, II (Kate) of Ft. White; his grandchildren, Jonathon Palumbo, Jerry D. "Trey" Tyre, III and Sophie Tyre. He is also survived by his two step children, Robbie Hoyt and Victoria Hoyt both of Lake City along with his many cousins and extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life service for Brother Tyre will be conducted on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ronn Jones officiating, assisted by Pastor Hugh Sherrill. Interment will follow at a later date in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of celebration following the service at the Watertown Congregational Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Lake City.
