Bishop Bryan Richards, Sr., 68 of McAlpin, Florida, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Shands at the University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville.  He was born in Huntington, West Virginia and has made Florida his home since childhood.  Bishop Richards was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1975 and worked his career as a project manager in the construction industry.  Bishop Richards was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He held many callings within the church and was currently serving as the Bishop of the Branford Ward.  Bishop Richards loved bass fishing and spending time with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Richards.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Shellye Hook Richards; his mother, Charlotte Barker Richards; three sons, Bryan Roy Richards, Jr., Cody Luke Richards and Brandin Ray Richards; 2 brothers and 1 sister; and six grandchildren, 4 boys and 2 girls.

Funeral services for Bishop Richards will be conducted on Saturday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Price Creek Ward on Old Country Club Road, Lake City, FL, with President Scott Hinson, presiding.  Interment will follow at Falling Creek Methodist Cemetery north of Lake City.  A time of visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Price Creek Ward on Old Country Club Road in Lake City.
