Mr. Billy Sunday Strickland, 88, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 24, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after an extended illness. He was born in Black, Alabama on February 3, 1936 to the late Z.Y. Strickland and Cavie R. Owens Strickland he has made Lake City his home for the last 58 years, moving here from the Lakeland, Florida community. He was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and worked for Occidental/PCS Company for a number of years until retiring in 1992. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and working on his old cars. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Gene, James, Kulon, Jerry, Terrell and Mary; and his son-in-law, Alan Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sue Strickland of Lake City; children, David Strickland (Lynn) of North Carolina, Ramona Phillips of Lake City and Sid Strickland (Donna) of Lake City; and his sister, Pat Shriver (Ted) of Boca Raton. Eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.

A funeral service for Mr. Strickland will be conducted on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Parkview Baptist Church with his grandson, Pastor Chris Phillips, officiating, assisted by Dr. Billy Young. Interment will follow on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in the Izagora Cemetery in Bonifay, Florida. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Alzheimer's Association.
