Billy Nathan Pettyjohn, age 74, passed away Monday August 16, 2021, surrounded by the amazing staff of North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida after a lengthy illness.

Bill was born February 23, 1947 near Rome, Georgia and moved to Lake City, Florida at a young age. He graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1965. He was a successful self-employed farmer beginning with watermelon and corn, finding success and became very well-known in this area for his hay production.

He was predeceased by his parents Gordon L. Pettyjohn and Grethel (Pat) Pettyjohn, his brother Eugene and sister-in-law Imogene Pettyjohn.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Carolyn W. Pettyjohn, two sons Brad Pettyjohn of Raleigh, North Carolina and Brett Pettyjohn of Lake City, Florida, a brother Dwight Pettyjohn (Melinda), numerous nieces and nephews, and two hired hands and close friends Chad Stafford and Eddie Hooks.

Due to the high numbers of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no funeral services or visitations. Interment will be private at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Columbia County High School's Chapter of Future Farmers of America in memory of Bill Pettyjohn Farms.
