Billy Joe Fowler, Sr.

Billy Joe Fowler, Sr., 75 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at his home in Lake City. He was born and raised in Lake City to the late Carlos Franklin Fowler and Dillie Vann Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1969. He worked for Sunbelt Coatings in Lake City for 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to the river and grilling for his family on the weekends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Franklin Fowler and Dillie Vann Fowler; three wives, Barbara Ellen Pierce, Susan Camille Waldron and Angela Gayle Kenney; and three siblings, Doris Church, Willie Gilbert and Carlos Fowler.

Survivors include his children, Bobbie Jo Browning of Stockton, GA, Billy Joe Fowler, Jr. of Lake City, Kaceyjo Camille Dortly (Quez) of Orlando, Carlissa Fay Fowler of Lake City, Lisa Renee Starling Brett of Lake City and James Blaine Waldron (Cindy) of Lake City; six siblings, T.A. “Bud” Fowler (Nell) of Alexandria, LA, Lottie Thomas, Evelyn Odom, Betty Shope and J.W.Fowler all of Lake City, and Debra Simpson of South Carolina; one former wife, Cora Medders of Lake City; 25 grandchildren including his grandson, Kameron Simmons; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services for Mr. Fowler will be conducted on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 4:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at a later date at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Chapel.
