Obituary

Beverly Smelt Davis of Lake City went home to be with The Lord on April 21st 2017.  Beverly lived her entire life in Florida and the majority of her adult years were spent in the White Springs/Lake City area.  She was retired from the Florida State Park Service having spent 32 years employed at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center where she exemplified a strong work ethic, love of people and was the recipient of numerous awards in recognition of her dedication and was awarded "Employee of the Year" in 1993 from the Florida Park Service.  She loved music and God and shared both as pianist at the White Springs United Methodist Church where she was also a member.  She worked diligently through her church, the Christian Service Center, meals on wheels, hospice, etc., to help those who needed a helping hand.  She helped raise funds to support the James Cook fund, the United Methodist Childrens' Home, the Christian Service Center, Watertown family ministries and White Springs UMC.

Beverly is survived and loved by her family; husband of 40 years, Donald Davis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lou (Bullard) and Tom Hanna, Linda (Bullard) and Bruce Biggs, Melody (Bullard) and Jeff Quick; two brothers, Francis (Patricia) Smelt and William Smelt, a sister Mary Smelt (David) Rowe, step-children Donna (Davis) and Kilian Baker, Karen (Davis) and Lee Beach, Chad Davis (Will Chappell), and special friend Debbie Lindsay Reid.  Don and Beverly share seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Beverly is predeceased by her parents, Francis C and Mary Smelt, her daughter Libby Bullard Holbrook, her grandson, Tyler Biggs, great-granddaughter, Ripley Grace.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the White Springs United Methodist Church in White Springs with Rev. Randy Ogburn and Rev. Sandra Beedle officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery in Lake City.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the White Springs United Methodist Church to support the Methodist Children's Home or Haven Hospice, Lake City, Florida where she volunteered for 12 years and spent her last few days at the place she loved so dear.
