Bettye L. Richardson, 72, of High Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday, September 11, 2014, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness. Bettye was born on April 8, 1942, in Worthington Springs, Florida. She was a longtime member of Hague Baptist Church, and had worked for the Alachua County School Board and later was a C.N.A., doing private duty nursing. She enjoyed gospel and country music, cooking, devoting time to her family and caring for others. She was always more concerned with helping and doing for others, more than for herself. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur and Wallace Seay and her devoted husband of 47 years, Cecil Richardson in 2007.
She is survived by her loving children, John Richardson of High Springs, FL, Dennis Richardson of High Springs, FL, Kim Raffii (Erfan) of Jacksonville, FL, and Darryl Richardson (Kim) of High Springs, FL; grandson, Destin Raffii of Jacksonville, FL; step grandchildren, Logan, David, and Haley Evans of High Springs, FL; sisters, Anna Bass (Dale), Thelmalee Allen (Edward), Ethelene Woodard, and Lori Elixson, also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Saturday evening, September 13, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
