Betty Louise Rogers, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. She was born in Anderson, Indiana to the late Herman Rigney and Alma Myers Rigney. Mrs. Rogers had made her home in Lake City for the past 10 years having moved here from Palmetto, Florida where she had been a longtime resident. She was a member of Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle in Bradenton, Florida. Mrs. Rogers also became a licensed minister and visited many in local hospitals and performed several wedding ceremonies. She loved being active in church playing the piano and singing. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by two husbands, J.D. Cowsert and Kenneth Warren Rogers; one son, Richard E. Downey; one grandson, Jeremy Palmer; and two brothers, Homer and Donald Rigney; two daughters-in-law, Susan Cowsert and Melody Downey.
Survivors include three sons, Herman L. Cowsert, Manatee County, Clarence R. Harney, Bull Shoals, AR and Daniel A. Downey (Jonita), Lake City; two daughters, Debbie S. Alberts, Tennessee and Brenda L. Palmer, Fort White; two sisters, Donna and Teresa; her step mother, Rose Rigney; nineteen grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be conducted on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at the Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle at 1218 7th Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34208, with Pastor John P. Marlow officiating. Private entombment will follow at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
