Betty Allison Norris passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 after an extended illness. She was born September 18, 1930 to Pettus and Reverend Leonard Eikel. She lived in the Mikesville Community and attended Fort White schools and Columbia High. Betty received her Bachelor Degree from Erskin College and her Masters and Specialty Degrees from the University of Florida. She was a school teacher and director of special education until she retired in 1987.
She and her husband John enjoyed traveling the world for many years. They were both avid Gator fans and enjoyed going to games both here and away. She was always the boss and was given the title "Officer in Charge Madam Queen" Betty enjoyed playing bridge with her friends for at least 50 years.
Betty is survived by her husband, John Norris; her three sons, Carl (Joan) Allison, Steve (Teresa) Allison and Chuck (Vesna) Allison; step-children, Guy (Suzanne) Norris and Elizabeth (Jim) White; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl "Roy" Allison, her grandson, Jared Allison and her sister, Martha Peck.
There will be a visitation at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 5-6:30 pm. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City with Rev. Dr. Cynthia M. Benz officiating. Private interment will follow. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations to be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City at PO Box 469, Lake City, FL 32056-0469 or to CARC at 512 SW Sisters Welcome Road, Lake City, FL 32025.
