Mrs. Betty Jane Tice Breckenridge, 74, of Lake City, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, surrounded by her loving family. Her final day was filled with the people she loved most, a fitting reflection of the love and devotion she gave to her family throughout her life. Betty was born on January 1, 1952, in Lake City, Florida, to the late Joseph Wesley Tice and Anise Ethel Taylor. She devoted over 47 years of dedicated service to the Florida Department of Transportation, where she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many throughout her years of service. Betty found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart. She treasured every moment spent together and loved being a part of their lives. She enjoyed trips to the beach, tending to her garden, cooking and baking, and she made it a tradition to bake a special cake for every important occasion. She also had a special love for Elvis Presley and his music. Her kindness, warmth, love of family, and the memories she created for those around her will forever be cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Donald Lee Breckenridge.
She is survived by her loving children, Donald Breckenridge of Lake City and Kimberly Taylor (Raymond) of Lake City; four grandchildren, Raylee Taylor, Breck Taylor, Triton Breckenridge, and Ranger Breckenridge, all of Lake City; along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Betty leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will live on in the hearts of her family. Though she is deeply missed, her love will continue through her children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Memorial services for Betty will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dusty Bailey officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00- 11:00 A.M. (1 hour before service)
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Christian Service Center, P.O.Box 2285, Lake City, FL 32056.
