Betty Lorraine Capell Herdegen, 76, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, January 8, 2024, at her residence, after a brief illness. She was born in Lake City on June 18, 1947 to the late Wood Moreland Capell & Reba E. Capell. She has made Lake City her home all of her life; and worked at Capell Shoe Shop, then was a Sheet Metal Mechanic with AREO Corporation and then was a waitress for many years, working in various restaurants, including Quincey's. She was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her soap's, going to the beach, singing in the church choir, going to Jacksonville Jaguar football games; but more especially, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Henry Herdegen; and her brothers, Charles Capell, Frank "Woody" Capell and Lanny Capell.

She is survived by her children, Tina Johnson (Jessie) of Lake City and Donald Blume (Christina) of Elizabeth, WV. Seven grandchildren, Joshua Johnson (Tari) of Lake City, Samuel Johnson (Heather) of Cairo, GA, Jacob Johnson (Nicole) of Louisville, KY, Zachary Johnson of Lake City, Joshua Patterson (Shala) of Ripley, WV, Michael Blume (Chelsea) of Colorado Springs, CO and Megan Patterson of Parkersberg, WV; thirteen great-grandchildren and her nieces, Catrina Capell of Boca Raton, Rani Slovenz (Robert) of Inverness and Tracy Capell Cantrell (Wayne) of Jacksonville also survives.

A Funeral service for Mrs. Herdegen will be conducted on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.  in the Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday evening, January 15, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
