Betty Jean Bodiford Koon, 87 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City following an extended illness.  She was born on February 1, 1935 in Lake City, Florida to the late David F. Bodiford and Julia Eloise Wilder Bodiford and had made Lake City her home all of her life.  Mrs. Koon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, James McHue "Mac" Koon; and two siblings, Nan Bailey and Charles Bodiford

Survivors include her daughter, Julia A. Keene (Henry), Lake City; her son, Mikel W. Koon (Denise), Gainesville; 6 grandchildren, Danny Sims, Jamie Sims, Matthew Keene, Mikel Koon, Kaylei Koon and Miranda Obern (Bott); 7 great-grandchildren, Arieana Almario, Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Cemetery in Lake City with Chaplain Doug Felton officiating. Interment will follow.  A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the graveside at Memorial Cemetery from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
