Mrs. Bernice W. Montgomery, 97, went home to be with her heavenly father, Thursday, December 29, 2016. Bernice was born in Cranberry County, North Carolina to the late Finley G. and Roxie E. [Brown] Walker and had lived here in Lake City for the past 45 years. She was a caring mother, grandmother, grand & great grandmother who devoted her time to the care of her family.  Mrs. Bernice was a staunch prayer warrior and loved rejoicing with her church family, singing in the choir, as a member of Parkview Baptist Church for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 11 brothers & sisters, her son, Michael W. Montgomery, daughter, Camilla A. Montgomery  and her beloved husband of 66 years, Albert Newland "Monty" Montgomery (2008).

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Montgomery of Lake City, FL and Miriam (Ray) Callahan of San Antonio, TX; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. We will always have fond memories of her and the love she willingly shared with us.  The wonderful times we came to visit and her taking us to the lake to feed the ducks, will help keep her alive in our hearts until we are joined again.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Parkview Baptist Church with Pastor Miriam Callahan and Pastor Mike Tatem officiating. A family committal service in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
