Obituary

Frances "Bernice" Glenn 93 of Ormond Beach, formerly a long time resident of Lake City, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021.  She was born in Paia, Maui, Hawaii to the late Joseph Tavares, Jr and "Bessie" DeCoite Tavares and now relocated to Ormond Beach to be with her daughter.  She met "Bob" when she was on her way to work at the Navy Base.  He gave her his seat on the bus and was on the bus waiting for her when she got out of work.  They married and lived in Hawaii until after WWII.  They moved to West Virginia before moving to Lake City.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn; one daughter, Carol "Cookie" Burks (Terry); one son, Robert Glenn, Jr. (Vicky); four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Sumter (Aubrey); one sister, Stephanie Rackley, Makawao, Maui; and has five grandchildren, Robert Glenn, III (Jean), Glenn Sumter (Autumn), Matthew Sumter (Jackie), Stephanie Gonzales (Juan) and Kelly DuBose (Jason); 12 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Bishop Louis Montelongo officiating.  Entombment will follow.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service at the funeral home

from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  A memorial mass will be held at a later date at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Orlando.
