Obituary

Bernard Elwood Goodson, 93 of Lake City passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home in Lake City. He was born Camilla, GA the oldest child of the family. He joined the Marines at 18 and served in Korea. Upon returning from Korea, he met and married his wife, Anne Powell of Newton, GA. He moved to Jacksonville, FL where he attended Massey Business College for accounting. There they started their family. Upon competition of schooling, Bernard and Anne moved to Lake City where he started his career with Mobile Home Brokers. He spent his entire working career in the mobile home industry. During his life, he bought Shired Island with his brother Kermit. He spent many happy days there fishing. Bernard's favorite times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne Powell Goodson; sons, Mark Goodson (Patti), Bruce Goodson (Lynn), both of Lake City and Brian (Dana) of Flemming Island; Grandchildren, Lyndsey Jones, Graham, Griffin, Ridge, Chase and Cole Goodson; Great-Grandchildren, Sloane, Stella, Grier, Grey, Reece. Bernard is also survived by siblings, Ethel Swilley, Betty Dicks and Kermit (Sandra) Goodson. He was predeceased by brothers Charles and Talmadge Goodson.

The family will hold a private memorial service later. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
