Barry Ryan Young, 48 of Branford, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Lake City Medical Center from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.  Ryan was a lifelong resident of Branford and a graduate of Branford High School class of 1994.  He worked for 20 years with the Florida Department of Corrections at the Mayo Correctional Institute in Mayo. Ryan transitioned and was currently working for the Florida Department of Agriculture as an Officer with the Office of Agriculture Law Enforcement working the majority of his 9 years at the No. 3 station in Branford.  Ryan loved hunting, fishing, cooking, tinkering and spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Dexter Young; one brother, Robert Dexter Young; and multiple uncles, aunts and cousins.

Survivors include his sons, Barrett Young and Braxton Young (Huntley) of Branford; his mother, Patricia Finch Young, Branford; two brothers, Ray Young (Kim) and Ronald Young (Jeanie) of Branford; his former wife and mother of his sons, Stacy Young, Branford; his girlfriend, Ravinn Dees, Branford; uncles, Eugene Young (Rita), Lake City, Herman Finch (Tina), Mayo and Roy Finch (Ann), Lake City; aunts, Wanda Hart (Hyman), Mayo, Peggy Rickett (Ramie), Branford and Sybil Robinson, Lake City; his sister in law, Lori Young, Branford; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Officer Young will be conducted on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Branford, Family Life Center.  A time of visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service at the church.
