Barbara B Thompson

May 17, 1936 — May 7, 2026

Kirbyville, Texas

Barbara B Thompson, née Blades, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Live Oak, Florida. Born on May 17, 1936, in Conley, Texas, Barbara's life was marked by dedication and a commitment to her community that spanned many decades. She leaves behind a large loving family.

Barbara attended Dalhart High School in Dalhart, Texas, laying the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and service. She devoted her entire professional career to retail services and civil service within Hemphill County, where she was appreciated for her strong work ethic and dedication. Her role at the courthouse was a source of great pride.

Barbara was blessed with seven children: daughters Claudette Lansford (married to Derrell), Carla Soileau (married to Emery), Cathy Zielke, and sons Dayton Thompson, Dee Thompson, Brent Thompson (married to Heather), and Beryl Thompson. She was equally proud of her eleven grandchildren and found immense pride in becoming a great-grandmother to twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Her marriage to her husband Claude, which lasted an impressive forty-nine years and nine months, stood as a testament to her loyalty. Claude, along with Barbara’s siblings Leon Blades, Raydean, and Terry, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Sandy Blades Martin and all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara took great pride in her sewing, a craft that brought her gratitude, and in tending to her flower garden.  A dedicated worker, she found fulfillment in a full day's work and embraced every role she held with great determination.

Barbara B Thompson’s lifetime of achievements and relationships leaves a legacy of perseverance and community service. Her presence will be profoundly missed by those who loved her.

She rests now in peace, remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.
