Mr. Arthur O. Scofield , Jr., 84, a resident of Newberry, Florida and former resident of Lake City, Florida, died at Regency Hospital Company in Macon, Georgia after an extended illness.
He was a native of Lake City, Florida, son of the late Arthur O. Scofield Sr. and Edna Clements Scofield. He was employed by The Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Newberry, Florida, loved photography, traveling and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Mary Alice Godbold Scofield.
Survivors: Wife, Marion Annette Scofield of Newberry, Fl; One son: Randall Scofield (Cheryl) of Milledgeville, GA; Three daughters: Judy Bradley, Valdosta, GA., Kim Watson (Larry), Lake City, FL. and Destinie Cordel of Lake City, FL; One sister: Rebecca Slade, Hickory Creek, Texas. Six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four step children, five step grandchildren and one step great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be with the family from 5 until 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
