Arminda M. Rodriguez, 97, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday evening, March 22, 2022 in the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee after an extended illness. She was born in Ciego De Avila, Cuba on January 22, 1925. She has made Lake City her home since 1978, moving here from the Miami, Florida area. She was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She worked for many years as a clerk with the Florida State Park as well as Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, drawing, painting and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening and whistling to the birds. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eliseo R. Rodriguez; sisters, Cira Ruiz & Gloria Carles; brothers, Raul Ruiz, Miguel Angel Ruiz & Carlos Manuel Ruiz; and her half-brother, Mariano Ruiz.
She is survived by her daughters, Arminda Nelson of Lake City and Aggie Hale (Alan Israels) of Tallahassee; sister, Dora Ruiz of Miami; half-brother, Rodolofo Ruiz; half-sisters, Isabel Ruiz Gomez and Anita Ruiz Gomez both of Canada. Two grandchildren, John E. Nelson & Jennifer M. Nelson and 6 great-grandchildren, Alexander Nelson, Sierra Nelson, Joseph Bowers, Briana Ricks, Grace Weaver and Alyssa Taylor also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Rodriguez will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. James Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday evening, March 31, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
